N-CCS December Employee of the Month: Mrs. Tammy Hayman

Congratulations to Mrs. Tammy Hayman, the N-CCS December Employee of the Month! Tammy is a School Counselor at Newton-Conover High School where she helps students plan for their futures with a careful plan and a caring heart! Recently, Tammy has worked countless hours preparing for the 4th Annual Community Christmas meal.  She coordinated food and volunteers, secured donations, arranged for pictures with Santa for the kids who attended, made sure the word got out to those in the community who would benefit from this event, and so much more.  Tammy's heart for reaching out to help meet the needs of the high school students and the community is obvious-- seen in her tireless work on this event, as well as the Back to School Bash in August.

Tammy's peers say that Tammy deserves this award, because she works non-stop, tirelessly, both at school and after school throughout the year. They say that she helps make our school system a better place for students, parents and staff! Peers also shared that she has a big heart and is a tremendous asset to her school and community. Others stated that she is an incredible leader and goes above and beyond to make events such as the Community Christmas Luncheon a success.

We are proud to say that Tammy Hayman is a member of the Newton-Conover Family! To nominate another deserving N-CCS staff member for this monthly honor, Click Here  to share your positive thoughts and comments by January 15th!

Angie Sigmon, a K-3 teacher at Shuford Elementary School in Conover, was named North Carolina's latest Milken Educator Award winner and the recipient of a $25,000 prize on Friday, October 17th.

Sigmon is among up to 40 outstanding elementary educators who will receive the Milken Educator Award for the 2014–15 school year, which carries with it an unrestricted financial award of $25,000 and membership in a network of over 2,600 past recipients from across the nation.

State Superintendent June Atkinson said, "In her 13-year career, Angie has inspired her students and colleagues alike to unlock learning potential with technology, to try new things, to help one another and to always believe in themselves.
